Comment on Merger Model: M&A Acquisition by mergertech /articles/investment-banking/recruiting-interviewing/merger-model-ma-acquisition/#comment-31140 Wed, 08 Jan 2014 11:43:30 +0000 /?page_id=927#comment-31140 The good merging and acquisition organizations have knowledgeable experts with them. They observe different types and dimensions of organizations and study the improvements in the corporate world regularly. Sometimes the customers strategy them with a specific merging or purchase focus on in mind. The consultant’s job in such situations is to help in discussing if the consumer so wishes, organize third party assessment and be present at to the requirements and information. If the consumer wants recommendations for M&A, the experts would be ready with appropriate recommendations and make specific demonstrations. In both situations, some experts offer to organize financing if necessary.

Comment on Am I too old to get into Investment banking or any well paid finance career? by kjburda /2023/12/am-i-too-old-to-get-into-investment-banking-or-any-well-paid-finance-career/#comment-31139 Tue, 07 Jan 2014 18:10:13 +0000 /questions/am-i-too-old-to-get-into-investment-banking-or-any-well-paid-finance-career/#comment-31139 I think you can achieve it. You should definitely start networking with people in the industry, which would help you (or anyone for that matter) in securing an interview. It’s very difficult to get an interview outright, due to the high volume of applicants.

Secondly, start exposing yourself to finance/business/economics. Show initiative by signing up for some course, so that you can put it on your resume and be prepared to explain your interest. Money is good, but demonstrate that you actually like finance. If your heart isn’t in it, it will difficult to get hired. It will be difficult, but you can do it… if you really want it.

Good luck.

Comment on Vote: has anyone got a job interview or offer after the WSAT? by anarula06 /2023/04/vote-has-anyone-got-a-job-interview-or-offer-after-the-wsat/#comment-31114 Tue, 26 Nov 2023 22:48:58 +0000 https://www.portfoliopint.com/questions/vote-has-anyone-got-a-job-interview-or-offer-after-the-wsat/#comment-31114 Yes, I am getting several interviews. Adam is right about the other components being a major factor. I have been on this site for just under a year and until I started my Master program and did a small internship in IB, I was getting no responses. Now I am having a decent amount of success and the people who run the site have been very supportive and helpful in the process. The site is definitely a good way to get your resume in front of employers if you do well on the exam, what happens after that depends on what is actually on your resume.

Comment on Best major, and insight on investment banking job? by Derek Jeter /2023/11/best-major-and-insight-on-investment-banking-job/#comment-31112 Thu, 21 Nov 2023 20:11:07 +0000 /questions/best-major-and-insight-on-investment-banking-job/#comment-31112 From what I know, UF is one of the best business schools in the country am I correct? And I have seen on this site, that about 20-30 students get sent into top investment programs after they graduate. But what would help me understand the markets etc better. Would it be studying finance or studying economics?

Comment on Vote: has anyone got a job interview or offer after the WSAT? by Adam Goldstein /2023/04/vote-has-anyone-got-a-job-interview-or-offer-after-the-wsat/#comment-31075 Fri, 25 Oct 2023 15:37:39 +0000 https://www.portfoliopint.com/questions/vote-has-anyone-got-a-job-interview-or-offer-after-the-wsat/#comment-31075 Hi guys,

This is Adam Goldstein, one of the founders of Portfolio Pint. The WSAT is one part of the application process. A good score does not guarantee you an interview. You must also meet the qualifications of the job, and the employer must also want to interview you based on your resume. So for example, if you scored a 99th percentile on the WSAT but the job requires you to have 2 years of IB experience and you don’t have that, then you will not be considered. That being said, if you have the relevant experience and you do well, there is an extremely high chance your resume has been seen and was considered for the position. That doesn’t mean you will get called, but it does mean you were considered. I hope that helps answer your questions.

Adam

Comment on DCF model with changing capital structure by cdaniel /2023/09/dcf-model-with-changing-capital-structure/#comment-30991 Tue, 15 Oct 2023 23:49:34 +0000 /questions/dcf-model-with-changing-capital-structure/#comment-30991 nrlxndr, You are right, most models you see have a fixed capital structure. The company that I am trying to value is planning to do what you describe, ie. raise money along the way to acquire other companies and essentially act as an aggregator. It’s a challenge. Thanks for you help.
